Completion is the process that every printed matter is subject to after printing. There are variations to choose from when processing, depending on your preference, resources and purpose of your project.
Completion is the perfect way to enrich the printed matter. Various completions emphasize its durability and add the product a stylish effect that can give your brand a prestigious or professional look.
How can I improve my printed matter and which completion to choose?
As additional completion of printed material we offer:
- Cutting, perforation, cut-out (punching)
Cutting shapes each printed matter to its final format or prepares it for the next completion. However, cut-out or punching is the most commonly used completion in printed matter that has a non-standard shape or hole. The cut-out is used for printed packaging material, boxes, labels, folders and bags.
- Folding
Folding is a type of completion that enables the printed matter to be folded into the desired shape, with which we can emphasize a particular shape or some outstanding elements. Among simple printed materials we fold leaflets, posters and maps, and among more demanding ones (requiring further completion) we fold books, brochures, magazines, instructions and the like. In the folding process, the printed matter can also be glued at the certain point.
We also fold the printed packaging, the printed boxes that we glue in the same process.
- Lamination
By plasticizing paper or cardboard, the printed matter is protected against physical damage. However, the most common products are those that require extra solidness. These are products such as a printed box or packaging, folders, business cards, book covers, catalogue or magazine covers. Thus, your printed matter is protected, and its lifespan is extended.
We offer matt and gloss lamination. The lamination enhances the contrast and sharpness of the printed matter. Matt lamination, however, calms the printed matter and creates a luxurious and elegant surface. Among matt foils we also offer soft touch foil, which is considered to be of better quality, or anti-scratch foil, where scratches are not visible.
- Numbering
We offer numbering of various products such as tickets, blocks and labels.
- Blind stamping (embossing)
Blind stamping is a type of completion where on the printed matter we create an embossed image of the desired logo or motif in order to emphasize and create texture and shadows. Logos or motifs have physical depth or height on the paper surface - you can feel them when you touch them.
Blind stamping can be combined with adding another completion technique - gold printing or UV lacquer, which accentuates the effect of blind stamping.
This type of printing is very effective on gift boxes, bags or stationery and on different types of packaging.
- Foil stamping or hot stamping (foil print in various colour shades)
Foil stamping is a form of decorative printing that applies a metal foil to the surface of the printed matter using heat and pressure. Most often, it is printed packaging, mainly cosmetics packaging, as the product, due to its superior image, acquires the elegance and value of the product. Gold printing is also used in other types of printed matter, such as stationery or gift bags and gift boxes, as it adds a visual effect to various elements of your printed matter, such as a logo or text. Gold printing can also be combined with blind stamping in which the surface is raised, convex or concave.
At VEK Koper Printing Company it is feasible to print various coloured foils in hot printing, if desired.
- Varnishing
In the offset technique, we offer varnishing of various printed matter which protects the printed matter. It is used instead of plasticizing, as it gives your product a more natural look.
- UV varnishing
UV varnishing is a form of completion that allows you to diversify your printed matter. The lacquer is applied to certain parts of the printed matter and is hardened by UV light during printing. This results in a gloss finish in different areas of the print, leaving the other surface unprocessed - usually matt.
- Stacking
Stacking is a process of putting the printing sheets in the correct order. Such completion is used when creating magazines, catalogues, brochures and books.
- Gluing
Gluing is the process of applying glue to paper. Blocks, instructions can be glued, and among other things, at the VEK Koper Printing Company, we also offer machine gluing of printed cardboard packaging or cardboard boxes (singlepoint or multipoint), folders, bags and similar printed matter.
- Soft binding (stitching) and hardcover binding
Stitching is the process of applying glue to the back of a piece of paper and combining it with a cover.
These completions are specific to the production of books, brochures, catalogues or blocks.
At VEK Printing Company we also offer book printing with hardcover binding.
- Wire binding and spiral binding
Wire binding is a type of completion in which the folded sheets are bound with wire in the back. It is used with less extensive printed material such as magazines, price lists, blocks and the like. Spiral binding, however, is the process of binding a printed material with a metal or plastic spiral, e.g. calendars.
- Scoring
In order to prevent the fibres in papers of larger ream weight from breaking, the material must be scored.
Scoring is used in the manufacture of folders, covers, leaflets or printed cardboard packaging.
- Perforation
Perforation is a completion process that determines tearing in designated areas. Perforation is used for blocks, tickets, coupons, etc.
- Lining
Lining is a completion process in which the harder surface is coated with printed material. Lining is used in hardening book covers and for printed cardboard packaging. At VEK Printing Company, we line both on cardboard and on microflute.
