Finishing
Graphic design, printing, finishing, delivery.
Finishing is a process every print product goes through after printing. It enriches the printed product and gives it a professional or prestigious look.
- Cutting, punching and die-cutting — shape the print material into its final format or prepare it for further finishing. Punching is used for products that are hung up, while die-cutting is used for non-standard shapes, openings, labels, folders and bags.
- Folding — allows the print material to be folded into the desired shape, from simple leaflets to more demanding books and brochures, which can also be spot-glued during folding.
- Lamination — a protective layer in matt or gloss finish. Matt lamination creates an elegant look, while gloss lamination enhances photo contrast. Gold and silver foil are also available.
- Numbering — sequential numbering, for example for tickets or notepads.
- Blind embossing — creates a tangible, raised impression of a logo or motif. It can be combined with foil stamping or UV coating.
- Foil stamping — a metallic foil is applied to the surface of the print material using heat and pressure. It's often used for cosmetics packaging and for decorative effects on logos and text.
- UV coating — a selectively applied coating creates glossy areas, while the rest of the surface stays matt.
- Collating, binding and stitching — assembly and binding methods for magazines, catalogues, books and brochures.
- Other — lamination of cardboard and corrugated board, scoring to prevent cracking, perforation, creasing, and hardcover and softcover binding.
